Well He's Off!

Jake was so excited to leave that he could barely sleep.  In fact he was up late with his best friend Josh doing a 'one-last-midnight-run' to his favorite late night restaurant Rancheritos (which was really a 1:15 am run).  Jake waited until the night before to pack so it was a frantic last 24 hours.  Josh spent one last night over and I don't think they got to bed until after 3 a.m. sometime.

The next morning Jake got up early and made his grandparents home-made birthday cards (it was his grandma's birthday in less than a week) and wrote his little brother a letter.  I had asked him to do these things before he left and even though he was running behind he sat down and took care of this for me.  Jordan was having a really hard time with the thought of his brother leaving.  It was a good thing, Jordan took Jake's leaving the hardest at the airport.  He didn't leave his side the whole time, and he cried pretty hard watching his brother walk away.  He wanted to get one last hug from his brother and wasn't able to get it (Jake didn't understand when we were telling him to do that) so Jordan was really heartbroken.  It meant a lot to Jordan to come home to a hand written letter just for him.  He cried so much that he had to have me read it for him, and he put it up on the wall so he could look at it.

At the airport Jake was on cloud nine.  He was so excited, and he was a little frazzled because he wanted to meet up with his friend Elder Dragon that was also going to the South Africa MTC on the same day.  But it turned out that Elder Dragon was also running late and they arrived at the same time.  Our family friend Kim came down with us for support and to drive home in case we were all a bit too upset to drive. :)  Josh also came to see his friend off.  Jake met up with Elder Dragon, and another Elder was also there getting ready to leave with them.
